1. What time does the class start?
9.30am for a 10 am start. Tea and coffee and biscuits over a short introduction to the Arches and me, safety in the kitchen and the day ahead.
2. What time does it finish?
We will be finishing at 4pm, we will have completed our cooking a little before then and we can spend time discussing the dishes you have created and the day we have spent together. If you need to rush off that’s fine. If you want to sit and relax that’s ok too. We have a beautiful outdoor seating area for summer which is a great place to relax at the end of a creative and productive day.
3. What to wear?
Your everyday clothes are fine, but don’t forget we are working in a kitchen so you will get warm. Shoes should be flat and comfy, no open toe sandals please. You will be given an Arches Apron to protect your clothes, which you will be able to take home at the end of the day.
4. What should I bring?
Yourselves and a smile, we shall supply everything else.
5. What can I expect on the day?
The day will be relaxed informative and very hands on. I will demonstrate the dishes you are going to create and a few more just for fun. There will be plenty of dishes for you to sample throughout the day and when we have finished we can sit down and chat about what we have learnt.
6.Will I be on my feet all day?
The day will be busy and you will be on your feet to cook, but we want the day to be enjoyable so we start with demonstrations, where you will be sat at the demo table. We will then have a break at around 12.45 ish for 30 mins for a light lunch and refreshments. In summer, on nice days, we will take our breaks outside. We then have an afternoon demonstration followed by you cooking. We will finish the day with you tasting what you have cooked or if you want to take it home, you can have tea and some homemade cake.
7. Can I come by myself?
Of course you can come by yourself. We work in small groups of upto 6 people. The way our kitchens are set up you work opposite someone, perfect for making new friends and chatting.
8.Can People come just come and watch?
Sorry no. Our cookery courses are all very hands on, but if you just want to chill out and watch you could attend one of our cookery and tasting demonstrations we will be hosting in the evenings.
9.How do I get to the cookery school?
Have a look at our website, all our directions are posted there with postcodes for sat navs. If you are local, we can do a pick up and drop off service.
10. Can I Park?
Yes we have ample safe parking at the Arches.
11.Can I take home food with meat at the end of the course?
You will be provided you with recyclable containers and food boxes to take home any of the dishes you have created.
12.Do you supply copies of the recipes?
Yes, copies of all the demonstrated dishes we be handed out on printed recipe cards for you to follow.
13. How many people to a class?
We have full workstations for 6 people downstairs and 4 full workstations for specialist courses upstairs.
